Netflix Versus Blockbuster

  As I was browsing through the programs on Netflix, I came across a documentary from 2020 called The Last Blockbuster . Honestly, I was surprised to know that a Blockbuster store is still open after Netflix shut down the once dominant video rental company. Blockbuster Corporate’s crucial mistake was not accepting the offer to buy Netflix for $50 million in 2000. The corporate leaders at Blockbuster missed out on a company whose annual revenue amounted to almost 25 billion in 2019. Netflix’s steady growth in sales can be contributed to word-of-mouth marketing. Diffusion of Innovations

     Today's discussion will focus on the Diffusion of Innovations theory, which was popularized by Professor Everett Rogers in 1962. His theory of change focuses on how products can evolve or be re-invented over a rate of time in order to better meet the needs of the public. Diffusion is referred by Rogers as "the process by which alteration occurs in the structure and function of a social system," (Rogers, 1995, p.5). At the core of the diffusion process is the transfer of information an individual communicates about an innovation to another individual or group. My biography

 My name is Lindy Oller. I am a former journalist from Georgia. I worked as a reporter for the Opelika-Auburn News in Auburn, Alabama. I received a Bachelor of Science  degree in Mass Communications from the University of West Georgia.
